Who Is ONDA the Right Contouring Treatment For?
How to separate fat, elasticity, and contour concerns

ONDA is not an all-purpose device that makes the face smaller. The choice becomes meaningful only when you distinguish how much localized fat and how much loss of skin elasticity each contribute to the contour.
What energy does ONDA use?
ONDA is a medical device that uses 2.45GHz microwave energy. The technology the manufacturer calls "Coolwaves" is designed to deliver energy to subcutaneous tissue while cooling the surface. On the face, we evaluate areas where localized fat and reduced elasticity appear together, such as a double chin or the area around the jawline, before considering it.
But fat is not the only reason a face looks large. Bone width, the masseter muscles, salivary glands, skin laxity, and swelling all affect the contour. If the cause is not distinguished, the expected change and the actual result can differ.
Concerns it suits, and concerns it does not
If there is localized subcutaneous fat you can pinch and the skin has loosened along with it, ONDA can be one of the options. Conversely, if volume is already lacking, or if the main cause of sagging lies in the deep support structures, an approach that reduces fat can make the impression look more tired.
When distinct lifting is needed, when muscle is the main cause, or when skin texture and pores are the core issue, other treatments may be more direct. Before the popularity of a device comes which tissue in your own face needs to be addressed.
What we look at in treatment design
ONDA can use two different tips, so people with more fat and people with less fat do not need to be treated the same way. The tip and energy can be chosen differently depending on fat thickness, distribution, and skin condition. Even on the same jawline, I do not treat the central double chin and the side of the cheek identically. I first separate the volume that should be kept from the areas that can be reduced, then customize accordingly.
After treatment, redness, swelling, tenderness, or a sensation of heat may occur, and recovery differs from person to person. Important schedules, skin condition, medications, and past treatment history should be shared with the medical team.
Criteria for choosing ONDA
Rather than first deciding on ONDA as a "package of N sessions," clarify whether the goal of this treatment is fat reduction, contour refinement, or elasticity support. Then set the next decision point using photos under the same conditions and palpation findings.
ONDA is not a device that makes the whole face smaller. Reduce what is excessive and keep the volume that should be kept. Even with the same device and the same tip, that distinction is what keeps the face from looking tired over time.
Questions to think about before your consultation
In my contour concern, how much is fat, muscle, and sagging respectively?
Where is the volume that should be kept rather than reduced?
How does its role differ from other lifting treatments?
